Practical decisions for Central Saanich
Central Saanich faces important decisions about growth, agriculture, infrastructure and affordability. These issues are connected. I believe Council should weigh them together, make practical trade-offs and keep the long-term interests of the community in view.
Working Agriculture
Central Saanich’s farmland is one of its defining strengths. I want to protect it while supporting the conditions that keep local agriculture productive and viable.
Growth in the Right Places
I support focusing new housing primarily in existing village centres and serviced areas. Growth should fit infrastructure capacity and community context while helping meet the housing needs of current and future residents.
Infrastructure That Keeps Up
Roads, water, sewer, drainage and other infrastructure need consistent maintenance and long-term planning. Growth should not outpace the services and infrastructure that support it.
Value for Taxpayers
Residents should expect careful scrutiny of municipal spending and good value for their tax dollars. That also means planning ahead: postponing necessary maintenance and infrastructure can leave larger costs for the future.
